MARA alternatives

MARA is hotel review management and reputation management software from MARA Solutions GmbH, built around replying to reviews with AI from a single inbox; it costs €70 to €290 per property a month depending on the plan and how you pay. The MARA alternatives for hotels that publish their price or offer are GuestRevu, TrustYou, Hotel Speaker, Customer Alliance and Shiji ReviewPro. PolarPuffin, which we make, is the alternative for the independent hotel whose main goal is not replying, but knowing what to fix first and checking whether it worked.

Written by Polargate, the company that makes PolarPuffin, so we are an interested party. Data about other tools comes from their official websites, with the date it was checked.

What MARA is and who it is for

MARA describes itself as AI reputation management software for hotels. Its website claims more than 2,000 customers, and the company behind it is MARA Solutions GmbH. Here is what it does, according to its official website on 23 October 2026:

  • One inbox for every review: Google, Booking.com, Expedia, TripAdvisor, Trip.com, Agoda, HRS, HolidayCheck, Airbnb, Hostelworld and OpenTable, plus any other site through its Chrome extension.
  • AI replies in the hotel's own voice: it learns from the hotel's past replies and sends new ones in one click to Google, Booking.com, Expedia and TripAdvisor. Rules can prepare drafts every morning or post replies automatically to some reviews, such as 4 and 5-star Google reviews with no text.
  • Review analytics: topics and sentiment per property, which topics weigh most on the rating with suggested actions (Quick Wins and Strategic Actions, from Core), and up to 5 competitors per property.
  • Surveys and widgets: in-stay and post-stay guest surveys, and a badge showing the hotel's rating on its website.
  • Connections: with PMSs such as Mews, Apaleo, Protel, Oracle OPERA Cloud or Guestline, with housekeeping and maintenance task tools, and an API and an MCP server to plug its data into other tools and AI assistants.

MARA has three plans. Lite is for a single independent hotel with up to 50 rooms; Core is for hotels and small groups; Intelligence is for hotel groups and portfolios, with an AI assistant that builds reports on demand.

Core€160€130500 a monthHotels and small groups

Each extra AI reply costs €0.30, and the Oracle connection adds €20 per property a month. Users are unlimited on every plan. There is a two-week trial with 40 AI replies and no card. Its pricing page does not say whether there is a minimum term.

When it makes sense to look for a MARA alternative

MARA is built so that a hotel or a group can reply to a lot of reviews quickly, in its own voice and connected to its systems. Another tool is worth a look in these cases:

  • You run a small hotel and budget comes first. There are cheaper entry plans and a free one; they are in the table of cheaper alternatives further down.
  • Your hotel has more than 50 rooms and you want the cheapest plan. MARA Lite covers one hotel with up to 50 rooms; above that, the plan is Core.
  • You want people to write your replies. Hotel Speaker combines AI with a team of native-speaker writers.
  • Your problem is not replying, but knowing what to change in the hotel. If the same complaints keep coming back week after week, what is missing is a short list of what to fix first and a way to check whether it worked. That is why we built PolarPuffin.
  • You are a large chain benchmarking against the market. Shiji ReviewPro reads dozens of sources in 45 languages and has its own index, the GRI, to compare you with the industry.

This table shows what each tool says on its official website on 23 October 2026: who it is for, the price it publishes and what it does. Prices are shown as each tool publishes them: PolarPuffin's and Hotel Speaker's exclude VAT, and the others do not say on their pages whether tax is included. The other tools list prices in euros; PolarPuffin's are in US dollars, with the same figures as in euros. The first row is PolarPuffin, our own product.

Cheaper alternatives to MARA

MARA's cheapest plan, Lite, costs €70 a month paid yearly and €100 paid monthly, for one hotel with up to 50 rooms and 150 AI replies a month. These are the entry plans of the alternatives. They do not do the same job, so read the last column before the price:

Entry plan of MARA and its alternatives, per month, according to each official website on 23 October 2026

On its English website, PolarPuffin charges in US dollars with the same number it shows in euros on the Spanish one. If what you use MARA for is replying, compare how many replies each plan includes and who writes them: GuestRevu only includes them on Pro+ (it also sells them as an add-on with no published price), Hotel Speaker prices by volume and MARA charges €0.30 for each extra one. If what you are after is something else, knowing what to change in the hotel, the price to compare is that of a tool that does that.

PolarPuffin vs MARA

PolarPuffin and MARA are both review tools for hotels, but they start from different places. MARA starts from the inbox: replying quickly and well to every review. PolarPuffin starts from the report: what to change in the hotel so the same complaints stop coming in. This table puts them side by side, using MARA's website and ours:

MARA is the better fit if your daily job is replying to a high volume of reviews on many sites, you want some replies to go out on their own, you need surveys or a link between reviews and your PMS, or you run a large group. For a hotel with up to 50 rooms that mainly wants to reply, MARA Lite paid yearly costs less than our Hotel Pro.

PolarPuffin is the better fit if you run an independent hotel or a small group, you already reply to your reviews (by hand, with Google's AI or with another tool) and what you want is fewer complaints: a short list of what to change this week, with the guests' own words asking for it, and a check afterwards on whether it worked. The step-by-step is in how it works and in the guide on what to fix first based on your reviews.

You can also use both: MARA to reply, and PolarPuffin's Hotel plan, which has no draft replies, to decide what to change. PolarPuffin's prices are on the pricing page.
